Topic: Carb adjustment screws

Good morning. I have a question on carbs. I have a 36 Ford 5 window coop with a 289 and a Ford F2 carb, but I have a general question. In the attached picture, on the driver side of the carb, on the throttle assembly, there are two adjustment screws. I know the lower one is the idle adjustment, but what is the upper one for? What does it do and what should the assembly be attached to?

Thanks very much

This is not a good place to pose that question. We generally are talking original '32-'53 ford stuff, not the more modern 289 engine. Nevertheless, I'll throw out a possible answer. No particular knowledge here, just winging a guess:

Upper ball stud is for an automatic trans kick-down linkage? Then the adjustment screw is for fine tuning the point of downshift.

You are correct that extra lever on the throttle shaft of the carburetor is the kickdown lever that attaches to a rod which goes to the automatic transmission.
