The front bearing in my 1937 car torque tube is a Hyatt roller bearing. I wanted to install a new bearing and race. The race in my torque tube is a solid, not with a chevron split. I purchased a new bearing B-4645, but this bearing is a little larger than my bearing and will not fit into my race. I'm wondering if I purchase the split sleeve B-4655, if I can use that combination and discard my old race. Thanks, Mike

The solid race is 68-4655 and the bearing 68-4645 I am not sure of the interchangeability of the split race. The split race does have a index male dimple on the OD. which fits into a recessed dimple in the torque tube.

I found the solid race in the Service bulletins. Apparently, in 1937 Ford must have experimented with a different race/bearing. The bearing with the solid race is slightly smaller than the bearing with the split race. I purchased the B-4645 bearing and it fits on my driveshaft. I noticed that there is a locating hole for the chevron split race. I ordered the split race today. After talking to Mac Van Pelt he believes that the more common combination should work. I should get the race later this week. Let you know, Thanks, Mike
