I have a 47 Ford V8. I can get it started when cold. After turning it off it is very hard to start. It floods out badly. I have replaced the fuel pump, carb, and distributor. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Make sure you have spark when hot and cold. Pull a plug wire and hold it near a ground to compare spark. Also check battery voltage when engine is hot while turning engine over and have a start problem.

If it is flooding, your carburetor probably needs a power valve and should be rebuilt. I recommend Charley Schwendler cas5845@yahoo.com Tom

HI what you could do is check your spark cold then check it hot to see if it matters if it does use a ice pack on the coil for few minutes and see the spark is better, if it does REPLACE the COIL, it is weak, it also might be the condensor, you can spray the cond with electrical spray that cools what you are checking, electirical shops use for checking circuits, hope this helps, this is information is from back experience , 37Ragtopman
