Hi Everyone, I am going to go look at a 41 Coupe that has an 8BA drive train in it. In the pictures I noticed that the steering wheel was 180 degrees rotated or upside down. I asked the seller about it and was told it was like that when he purchased the car almost 10 years ago. The car does have front disc brakes and I am wondering is someone gave it an alignment or a parts replacement that resulted in the steering wheel orientation and what I should look at to correct it. Thanks for any help!

First make sure it has the stock '41 steering gear. If it has another type of gear in it look for someone who may have used the stock steering shaft with a universal joint to mate the two together. Using a later GM steering box is a common way to upgrade the steering. The stock steering wheel is mounted on the shaft with a keyway, so it can only go on one way. Let us know if the steering gear is the stock one or a later model. Also if you could attach a photo of the steering wheel it would help. I believe that there is a key way on the steering sector shaft --- so, that could mean that the shaft was re-installed upside down, or, those the did installed it, didn't use a key way. Probably the later.
