I have a 1953 ford sunliner convertible ,i switch the car over to 12v ,but the convertible top motor runs too fast and don't want to burn it out, anyone drop the voltage to run it slower, if so whats the best way to do this. ken

I think the easist way would be have the motors changed to 12 volts, but I ask why 12 volts ? if the motors are lazy maybe clean them , brushes worn down need rebuilding and try them again, it is over 50 years old and things get corroded over time, is the wiring original, if the wire were changed, is it the right guage wire ? check all connections going to the motors and switches, also have the car running when operating the top, is it charging properly ' battery a good one, heavy duty, ALSO check to top assembly for sticking this may be to problem hope this helps 37Ragtopman

I'm no expert on convertible top motors, but there has to be some company that can convert your motors to 12 volt. Check the internet for companies that repair and restore convertible top cylinders and motors.
