Topic: 52 Window crank

I just re-did the interior & the driver side front window crank keeps falling off. It's the original type with the compact C shaped clip. (Repro handles & clips won't work with the plastic escutcheon protectors). I installed the springs to hold the trim panel firmly to the handle. The clip lets go & the handle falls off in your hand. I even tried gorilla glue & it worked fine for a month or so, then let loose. I've force bent the clip so it's got a firmer grip, but to no avail. Any ideas or better clips out there? Thanks

I suspect that either the clip groove in the shaft is badly worn, or the escutcheon spring is too strong. The correct springs are available from C&G as part # B-48284, 50 cents. I used Drake handles and trim and have had no problems. Clips (357550-S) are also 50 cents each. C&G is at 800/266-0470. You may need to file a deeper groove in the shaft, and be sure that any padding of the door panel behind the escutcheon is thin.
