If I was to look for a 4" mercury crank for my second generation 239 46-48 which has full floating bearings, the crank would have to come from 46-47 Merc. A 8BA crank wouldn't work in my engine, also finding one would be very difficult, is that right, Johna

The only stock crankshafts that have the 4.0" stroke are from 1949 and later Mercurys. These are all Third Generation units that have rod bearing inserts that are locked to the rods. None of these cranks featured the full floating rod bearings like the 1st and 2nd generation engines used.
