Does the top section of the filter (other than the screw on lid)come apart to clean the wire mesh portion? Thanks Bruce

Brue- Nope! If you want to get the mesh out you will need to cut some of the "I" supports and re-attach them after the mesh has been dealt with. If you are looking for something you can take apart without a hassle use a '37 and up filter or go to a '34-'36 oil bath air filter. Tom

I purchased my copper mesh from Roy Nacewicz and he explained how to install it without cutting anything out, takes a little time but it can be done.

We have been doing it for a long time. It was originally designed for the later models, but the principle remains the same for most air cleaners.
