I'm currently rebuilding my 1937 rear axle. The old wheel seals had failed and my old brake shoes are oil soaked. I'm looking for new brake shoes and all the spring hardware. So far I have not been able to find any. I'm told that woven linings are better than molded for mechanical brakes. Here is the rub. Seems no one offers woven linings, at least as far as I can see. Does anyone have any advice on this? Thanks, Mike

I generally do not like Mac's. Too many times the stuff they sell is not very good. I might try the eBay stuff, but there again you never know. I was also thinking of trying a clutch and brake shop, but I wonder if they would do a small job like this? Thanks, Mike

Mike, Ford discontinued using woven shoes during the 1937 model year, going to molded shoes due to the higher efficiency of the cable brakes over previous rod brakes. Properly set up, your brakes will be able to stop as well or better than Hydraulic brakes up until 1948. Don't be tempted to use woven shoes, they wear out quickly and are too grabby sensitive. Alan
