Topic: Fuel tank install location

Replacing the fuel tank on this 37 tudor humpback. I am helping my father with the project he started over a year ago. Just wanted to know if the tank is mounted on the top or bottom of the frame rail. I don't know because I did not take it apart myself. I have all the hardware to do the job. Could not find the first picture of the fuel tank location configuration

It mounts on top of the frame. If the body is still on, you’ll have to pry and wedge it into place.

On my '36, I was able to raise the right side, passenger side, just a quarter inch or so, then pry the left side up over the rail. Just so you know, an ample amount of cussing was required!

The tank mounts on top of the frame rails. Slip the tank over the left frame rail ( the drivers side) then bring the right side up and over. It should not be necessary to pry the tank if it is an accurate repro or original tank. Re connect the fill tube after it is in place.
Some repro tanks require trimming the flange on the passenger side or prying the frame to install them.
Check the hole for the sending unit as some are too small to fit the stock sending unit. Either buy the aftermarket sender or open the hole about 1/8 inch with the tank upsidedown. This will keep most of the grinding particles out of the tank. Vacuum, rinse, repeat, before installation.
