  Does the fitting in the line from the fuel pump to carb require a washer of any type.

  what year are your working on,
what carb to you have,
the treads might be stripped out,, and causing the leak ? is the inlet stripped, how are the treads, is it cross treaded ?
not much info to go on

  the brass ferrel on the end of line crushes into the inlet in the brass fitting going into float bowl,
if damaged will or might leak;
try a new brass ferrel and see if that it better,
you can try plumbers white tape. on the treads , make sure it does not go in the end of line, to clog it up
let hear how you made out.

  chucky. I had the same problem with the fuel line on my '46 Coupe. What I found was the ferrule on the end of the copper line had been compressed to the point where the hex section of the line nut was bottoming out on the face of the carb body, and not tightening the ferrule to seat properly. I had enough room at carb end of the fuel line to cut off the section with the ferrule, put a new one on, and the leak was gone. Be careful not to overtighten the line nut, as aluminum and brass threads are easily stripped with too much torque. You will see in the one picture, where the hex nut is almost touching the carb body, and the other is a nut/ferrule on the end of a fuel line. Most auto parts stores sell the ferrules for less that a dollar.

  Thanks for the help guys. I put a new fitting on the carb and added some teflon tape. Seems to be working
