Topic: NOS oil pressure gauge

I bought a NOS oil pressure gauge for my 1941 DeLuxe, the needle was broken on the one in the dash. I put in the new one but it isn’t working. How do I test the sending unit and the gauge?

Thank

On my 42 we ran jumper wires from the battery to the terminals on the gauge. MOMENTARILY touching the hot wire (from negative battery terminal). The needle on the gauge moved doing that which tells you it is good. On the sending unit put 15-20lbs air pressure and ran jumper wires to a NOS gauge I had. Not a great way to test it but it did move the gauge. If you are going thru the effort to remove the sender, I'd screw in a mechanical gauge just to be sure of what your oil pressure is. If the engine is still in the car you may want to make a special tool to remove it ( I think 9/16).
