Am having trouble trying to match up a starter with what I need for my 1940 coupe. It seems vague as to the year applications I am seeing on line from several different vendors. Do any of you know what year ranges I should be looking at? If seems that there are so many applications listed that would be a possibility but I can’t be sure. Would matching the shaft length and number of drive teeth be enough to put me in the “ ball park?” Thanks for any info.. I would also be receptive to acquiring a good used unit.

For certain any '32 - '48 will fit and function perfectly. The exception? The 60HP starters. You can still get these at NAPA for a reasonable price, typically more reasonably than nearly every V8 parts vendor. Napa #: RAY 2449607, about $125, remanufactured. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Starter for an automatic trans is different but no automatics in 1940. Only mention it in case the OP wants a used starter. ______________ No signature

At around $125, Napa is a bunch more reasonable. Plus, they are totally remanufactured to a very high degree of quality. Mike "Kube" Kubarth This message was edited by kubes40 on 10-12-22 @ 7:24 AM
