Topic: 39fordtudor interior

I am going to replace the interior in my 39 ford tudor. I am having a problem removing the back of the back seat. I unbolted the two bolts at the bottom of the back.I think that the top is slotted so I thought I would pull up at out to release it. That didn't work as the arm rest interfered with the pulling out. It looks like the arm rest is scr*w*d in from the outside in. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

I'm not that familiar with the '39, but most armrests also hook on the panel, and if the screws are removed, the arm rest can often be pushed up, then pulled out like the seat back. Otherwise, the window garnish has to come off, then the panel, to release the arm rest.

The back rest needs to be pushed up so it will release from the brackets on the rear package shelf. Push up first until you feel it release and then pull out. It should come out with removing the arm rests.

I have had the same issue. Are you saying lift up and slide the seat out of a bracket attached to on the body behind the back cushion?

Keep the bottom of the back rest close to the bracket that it was scr*w*d into, and then move the complete backrest towards the roof of the car until it releases from the brackets holding it in place.

Thank you for your advice. Did you mean it would come out without removing the arm rest?
Push up and then pull out the top of cushion first to go over the arm rest?
