Topic: 1937 21 stud Distributor question..

BIRUDY    -- 09-08-2022 @ 1:22 PM
Rebuilt my distributor and didn't take enough pictures before I got into it.
My concern (picture to be included) is the position of the coiled spring that comes from the bottom of the coil and rides
on or beside the round dished in contact point above the points.
I have installed the tip of coiled spring in the "dished out area" in the top of this contact area.
Is the correct place for it to be installed.
Thanks Rudy

I think you are in the right place.

The tip of the coiled spring needs to sit in the cupped seat, it does’ t matter if I is not central in the cup.

Thanks for the information, and as you stated , in my case the tip is in contact with the cup seat albeit not in the middle. Appreciate the reassurance.

You will notice the plate with the points and the coil contact plate move with the adjustment of the distributor timing so in most cases the coil high tension spring is not in the exact center of its contact point.
