Topic: Jacking at the middle of a straight front axle

Would like to use a floor jack to lift from the middle of the front axle of my "new" '41 in preparation for setting stands, blocks, etc. Also would appreciate comment on the advisability of lifting the back of the car from the differential.

I've done it many times from both ends with no ill effects. Is it technically advisable? I dunno.

Martin, jacking at the center of the differential should be fine. On the front I would jack from the side on the frame.
You probably would be o.k. on the axle but it may not be worth the risk of tweaking or bending the front axle.

If you want to put the vehicle on jacks for the winter, how would one do the front?
Never would have guessed it might stress the front axle?

IMO it won't. Fords have been lifted by the front axle since first built.

Those stock front axles are tough. I've always used the axle to jack up an old Ford.
