Topic: Help IDing car -- 1941 Ford?

The attached photo from 1947 shows an Italian actress named Alida Valli getting into a car. I am a film historian trying to identify the car.

I THOUGHT (based on archival paperwork) it was a 1941 Oldsmobile Convertible Coupe hydromatic, but most of the people I've asked seem to think it's probably a 1941 Ford or Mercury Convertible.

I know the picture doesn't show either the front or the tail, but can anyone help me identify this car? Any info would be much appreciated.

You can email me directly at lezardsouffle ("at") hotmail.com.

Thanks,
L.

Given the view of the left front fender, and the lack of rear quarter windows, I'd opine that it is, indeed, a '41 Ford convertible. The '40 had "fatter" fenders, and the '42 and later ragtops had the roll down quarter windows.

I vote for the 41 Mercury. The stainless belt line molding is not ribbed like the Ford and the dash knobs look like they are chromed.
