Topic: Battery Tender brand chargers

I have owned a 6v Battery Tender charger since about 1996 when I purchased my 1949 Ford Custom Fordor. It is a metal case and is about 5 inches wide, 3 inches high and 3 inches deep with red and green lights on the front. It has worked flawlessly and even allowed me to have reliable 6v batterys for over 9 years of service.
After returning from the 2022 Eastern National Meet in Franklin TN, I returned the car to the storage building and plugged it in. Sometime around July 4th, I noticed that the light (green) were not lit on the front of the charger. I checked the battery and it had a good charge. I checked the ground fault circuit and reset that. Nothing changed. I even moved the charger to the house and plugged it in, nothing.
I ordered a new one from Summit Racing in NE and it arrived about 2 days later. New design for the case and not two separate cords coming from the case, as you just plug the back of the case into the electrical socket.
We took the 1949 out last night to a big car show and when we returned, parked it in the front garage for the night. Today, I moved it back to the storage building and decided, that I should put the permenant battery connectors on the battery for the new 6v charger. But before doing that, I decided to plug in the OLD Battery Tender just to see. Well, the lights came on, and the green started blinking.

So --- did it just need a break? Is it a temporary return to service? I will check it later today, but when I pulled down the garage door, it was looking like old times. Granted it has been hot here (and where hasn't it) but the storage building thermometer is usually 10 degrees cooler than the air temperature. Whatever your opinions, I do have the new 6v Battery Tender available to fill in.
And by the way, the prices at Summit Racing are very affordable,if not the best available.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Well. 10 hours later the old Battery Tender looks to be working well.
The green light is on steady.

Probably will be one of those things that will never be answered.
