Doesn't seem that my Columbia is engaging. I checked everything and the vacuum is getting back to the canister. The vacuum reads 20 at the carburetor and 15 at the canister on the Columbia rear end. Haven't drove the car for many years but always started it and let it run for 20 minutes. Last week I took it out and try the Columbia and it didn't seem to work that's why I check everything and found everything is good up until the canister. Could the inside of the canister be dry from not being use in many years and the vacuum isn't moving the rod to engage the overdrive or return it to std.

Since you have the vacuum, it is time to check the canister. Remove it and see if the vacuum moves the lever without a load. If it doesn't, take apart the canister to determine why it is not moving. Also with the axle on jack stands, see if you can move the shift lever manually, turning a wheel when shifting the lever. Good luck

If the engine vacuum is 20 then you should have 20 at the Columbia vacuum canister. appears you may have a vacuum leak somewhere in the circuit you disconnected to install your gauge at the engine. Maybe the wipers?? If the Columbia has been sitting for a long time I would suggest removing the vacuum can and relube the piston leather seals with MMO or very light oil .

40 Coupe has given you the correct answers. Check all the rubber hoses that connect to the steel vacuum lines. and the line going to the wiper motor. If the Columbia has not been used or the car sat for a long time the leather sesals may need to be lubed with MMO.
