Topic: 1949 F1 gear problem

I bought a 49 F1 last year and the seller advised me that it occasionally jumps out of second gear. Last winter my friend and I bought new transmission parts, including syncronizers and a new second gear, and rebuilt the tranny.
It would still jump out of 2nd. So, we reworked it all over again. It's still coming out of 2nd, mostly after down shifting while going down a grade.
Someone recently told me that the 48s and 49s were known for this. Is that true? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When you rebuilt the transmission, did you make sure to set the end gap dimension of the cluster gear to the correct specification? This gap is adjustable by using various thickness thrust washers. Also check the shifter cams and the lock plunger balls to make sure they are not excessively worn. Worn parts here will have to be replaced to ensure the gears will stay engaged while decelerating in second gear.

was wondering if you replaced the clutch pilot bearing
and is the input shaft worn where if goes in to th pilot bearing ? does it wobble
if there is any wear this could be your problem,
also maybe the spring is weak for the shifting fork,
where did you buy your transmssion part's I hope they were made in U.S.A.
