I want to get a 37 tool bag made but have no details or photos to go by. If someone has a correct looking bag, would like a photo and details

A leatherette tool bag (B-17005-A1) was designed to hold the small hand tools. While there were two versions of this bag, the later A2 design described below was seldom used. According to engineering drawings, the bag was made from M-2388, leatherette, or when available, surplus rubber, whipcord or leather. In other words, any suitable material was most likely used to produce this tool bag. Thus, colors varied but normally would have matched scr*p leatherette from the production line. The tool bag most commonly produced was the A1 design. Approximately 11" wide by 6" high when closed, this bag had two 5/8" diameter metal snaps, plated either S6, S7, S8 or S28 securing the flap. The flap’s approximate dimensions were 11" x 2½". Rarely observed today, even in extremely well-preserved vehicles is the A-2 design. Made from identical materials as the A1 design, this bag was approximately 12½" high and 7" wide when closed. The end flap was approximately 7" x 2½" and had only one snap, placed in the center. I make V8 tool bags. I use black vinyl top material, just like the original Ford V8 Tool Bags. My bags are the 2 snap style. I sell my Ford V8 Tool bags at Hershey for $20. If you've been to Hershey, we are in the Orange field - we have the "Ford V8 Tools" display board on an easel out in front of our space. I could mail you a tool bag if you are interested or we also sell a tool bag with tools for your 37 Ford for $95. Shipping would be extra.

Model A tool bag is different from the V8 tool bag. Model A bag has "short" grain vinyl material and V8 is black "long" grain vinyl material. Carol

With respect, as often as not, surviving original tool bags from the early V8 era were made from surplus artificial leather upholstery material such as the copra drab pyroxylin material used on 1932-'34 open cars, for example, and not necessarily made consistently with either the long or short grain black top material.

3W2, From my experience, I, like you, have found the pouches of varying colors. All were "leatherette". However, my experience remains well within the years '39 - '40. When researching for the book, the release stated (no quote) they were to be made of scr*p material as available. The brown tool pouch is known to be original to a 1939 V8 60 hp. The black pouch, I believe, is correct for some 1936 cars as it is long enough to fit the 12 inch tire iron. I have seen other original '36 pouches that are 11 inch, it may have been something due to a factory location or something.
