Comparison question: bronze bushing that comes with the Ft Wayne Indiana Clutch, versus the roller bearing that come with other brands. Recommendation???? Thanks Jules51

Why try to reinvent the wheel? Pilot bushings have been around forever and failures are rare. It reminds me of back in the late '60's with roller bearings for the Model A kingpins, and then the latest and greatest were Teflon bushings, all were monumental failures.

Every time I have replaced clutches I've used the needle bearings. I've never had them go bad nor cause any problems.

The transmission main shaft turns with the fly wheel except when the clutch pedal is depressed. Good driving practices recommend that the clutch pedal only be depressed when you are going to shift, so the bushing should last longer than the bearing if it made from a good grade of sintered brass. Thanks for the input. Waiting on the clutch, took it to my local machine shop to have it checked for balance. Believe it's ok but never hurts to check. The Ft Wayne clutches are my choice over DC's. Thanks Jules51
