Hello everyone. I inherited a 1949 F4 dully truck from my father in laws passing. no compression so i pulled it and need to rebuild it. Any suggestion, help with manuals or information would be greatly appreciated. Dan from Spokane ,WA.

Dan, if you are a V-8 Club member use the roster and contact Rick Rawlings who lives in Washington. He has restored some early commercial vehicles and may be able to lead you to other heavy commercial owners.

Welcome aboard. A Motors Manual for the year of your truck would be a good start. That and other manuals are available from various vendors and auction sites. One vendor is: https://www.faxonautoliterature.com/ When you do decide to have machine work done on the engine make sure the shop you choose knows flatheads. Just because they can do a small block Chevy doesn't mean they know didly about flatheads. 0 compression means valves are stuck or cam gear is stripped, pull the heads and start soaking the valves with 50/50 mixture of acetone and automatic trans fluid. the big IF with flatheads are the valves being located in the block and not in the heads these become trouble for a lot of builders. there are several flathead building books and I suggest you get one and learn about them by tearing one down. I have big trucks and small trucks and build a few engines but I am in SC
