What is the procedure for adjusting the idle mixture screws? Does it start with a certain number of turns out? Want to try tuning out a faint put put sound.

First, remove the screws and make sure they are not rubber tipped. Use solid brass screws. Then screw all the way in gently and back off 3/4 to 1 turn. That should do it. John

you really need a vacuumn gauge.to do it right, usually you turn the mixture scews in till you get a stumble, then back out 1/4 turn or so till it smooths out,the vac gauge should be read fairly steady and be around 20.or so, you might have to go back and forth between the 2 screws till it is adjusted. what year car and what engine,???? you might have to adjust the timing in 49 and up engines, If the idle is not smooth, take a compression test, so you know the valves are good, the compression should be fairly even, hope this helps 37 RAGTOPMAN KEEP ON TRUCKIN,,,,!!!!
