Topic: Help! 34 Ford 4dr check straps

Steve34FORD    -- 07-11-2010 @ 12:39 PM
Im not sure how the check straps on the rear doors go??? I attached pics of both the door and strap. I have the 34 Ford book, but it does not show how it goes..It seems that the straight end goes in the door and is attached.. but then it doesn't give it any movement to slide when the door is shut.. any pics, suggestions would help.

First pic is of the inside of the body where the strap would go.

Here are two pictures of the left rear door and center pillar of my '35 phaeton....
There is a bracket attached to the door frame thru which the tee strap slides thru.....the tail part of the strap enters the side of the pillar thru a slot extending to the center of the pillar.
There is a square cut out in the pillar thru which you can attach the little bracket with the teeth on it over the top of the strap and secure with two screws..
