Topic: Speedo Gear Calculation for EFV8

I found the available gear part numbers for my 37 Tudor in the 18-20 tooth range. However, I am unable to locate a site that will offer a gear tooth calculator for the EFV8. I recently replaced my (what I thought to be 4.11's) 3.74:1, 10 Spline Banjo Gears with a set of 3.25:1 Banjo Gears.
All of the calculators on the sites that I have found indicate that there is no gear available for my 3.25:1 x 29" Tire OD (read 9am-3pm)., yet I am thinking that the 19 or 20 tooth (Green Ford Book 1941-42) Part numbers might be close enough in ratio, and available somewhere, any suggestions greatly appreciated.

You will need a smaller gear to speed up the speedometer. If you are still using the enclosed drive turtle, I doubt you will find one to correct your speedo readings. This company offers mechanical adaptors, I'm sure there are others.

You mention that your tire size is 29 inches. The standard early Ford tire is a 6.00 x 16 with a 28.3 inch diameter (according to Coker) which is within 3% of yours (or an error of less than 2 mph at 60). Now the Ford V8 Service Bulletins 1932-1937 list the turtle sizes for the Ford rear ends. A 3.78 takes a 20 tooth turtle while a 3.54 takes a 18 t00th turtle. My notes say a 6.60 tire with a 3.78 rear takes a 19 tooth turtle.

My guess is that you would need one with a tooth count less than 18 (17 or 16?) which doesn't exist. A mechanical adaptor as 40 cpe suggested is what you need. To determine correction factor I used GPS to hold 60mph and noted the speedo pointer. The manufacturer did the rest.
