Topic: horn motor

  Ladies & Gentlemen,

I obtained an aoooogah horn with my basket-case '40. It's very "lazy" sounding. Opening it revealed the motor, especially the armature, covered with a thin layer of oily dirt/dust. I'm tempted to submerge it in either gas, kerosene or vinegar, then brush and/or blow it clean. Any comments as to my brilliance or my recipe for a ruined armature? I'm all ears - thanks much.

None of the above. Try a spritz of WD-40. It will clean and lube.

  hi
post a photo of the horn, to see what you are dealing with, who is the maker ?
6 volt or 12 volt, ?
DODGE BROTHERS, used a aoo ga horn and it was 12 volts,

I use 320 wet and dry sand paper to clean the copper arm
and use ELECTRIC MOTOR CLEANER,
have this is many many time with great success
hope this helps. 37Ragtopman

  Thanks Mr. Supereal,

I'll give it a try. You sound like a confident man of experience with this.
