Topic: Oil pan

On my 49 pickup, the oil pan drain bolt is centered in a "clean out plate" fastened to the pan with eight 5/16. 24. bolts.

It has been leaking so I removed the plate to clean it and install a new gasket. Does anyone know if Ford has directed a a specific torque for these bolts, or where I might find that information?

Thanks.

just use a torque table for the size of bolt--be sure to use an adhesive sealer on the ring of bolts/nuts and gasket on the pan-they are notorious leakers

Thanks very much Alan. I have a new gasket and a new tube of Permatex.

I'm happy to know they have a rep for leaking.
