Tom, I ordered and received condenser ECH FA49 from Napa. I finally had time to installed it today. Why is it a simple task becomes extremely difficult? After connecting thenew condenser to the coil I could not get the coil to seat. Nothing seemed to work. I removed the coil and condenser and compared it the one I removed. The grounding flang is 180deg off from the removed condenser. See the attached pic. I attached the original condenser and the coil seated easily. Also note the size difference between the new and original. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ray

Yes the replacement from NAPA is slightly smaller physically. The condenser you got from NAPA was not manufactured properly take it back for a replacement or take a file or dremmel and create a flat surface on the other side of the center connection.

Thanks 40 Coupe. I finally had time to work on the condenser. I ground down the high portion of the flange. I was then able to install the distributor. I took the car for a small test run. Everything run as I hoped. The temperature is not as hot so it is has been to tell if the new condenser solved the problem. The old condenser will be retained as a spare.

Thanks again 40 Coupe.

A common complaint about condensers is the separation of the terminal from the unit. This is hard to find, but will cause many of the problems seen here. Be careful when tightening the screw on the terminal. It doesn't take much to pull the terminal loose which can cause many problems. It is just pressed onto the condenser.
