Topic: 1938 Deluxe Coupe battery hardware

chriscris    -- 09-21-2021 @ 11:56 AM
There wasnt any hold down hardware that came with my coupe.
I have seen available the top hold down with part that accepts a bolt through the firewall.
Is there any other hardware I zm missing? I see a hole on either side of the battery, for bolts?
Any help or pics appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

I may have the dog leg bolts you need; will check

Be careful, some of the modern batteries are a little too tall for the standard length bolts. I got a pair of longer ones for my '37 Ford some years ago but I don't remember where I got them.

Regret I could not locate the spares; I had gotten them from Third Gen as well and they were just right. Highly recommend

  Appreciate the replies.
3rd Gen has nothing.
CW Moss has the top hold down that bolts inside firewall, but cant locate the bolts.

Any chance someone may have s picture?
Thanks very much

I believe that this what you are looking for. This is for a 1937 Ford, but I think that it was carried over to 1938.
There is a black rubber washer

Chris, you should know that the original hardware will need to be modified to accommodate the increased height of modern batteries. One, the hold-down bracket has a threaded stud that will misalign with the hole through the firewall, and two, the two hold-down dog leg bolts will need to be extended to be tall enough to engage the hold-down bracket.

Thanks for the pic and info on the new battery height.
Fabrication/modification is a part of the fun!
