Ford dash light switches for '35-'37 are a nightmare to replace . They are not only fragile but impossible to find a replacement. Anyone come up with a modern switch solution without making a mess of a nice dash? Tom

The switch never made much sense to me. When do you have/want your headlights on but your dash light off? The normal switch position is a closed short circuit. Just short circuit your switch internally (or connect both ends of the two wires to the switch together) and your dash lights will be on whenever your headlights are on. The judges will never know. I'm not so sure I understand how you can tie both wire ends together of the light switch without creating a constant drain on your battery or potential fire. I like the idea of dash lights only going on when the headlights are on. How can I get there without creating more problems?

Tap into the headlight wires for the feed to the dash lights, or hide a toggle switch under the dash to control the dash lights. You may also be able to put a small push-pull switch in the housing of the original switch and use the original knob on the new switch.

If you look at the switch, you will see 2 wires leading to it One is black and it goes to the dash lights. The other is a black wire with a blue tracer, it comes from the light switch. It will have power when the light switch is in the Park, Low or High beam position and NO power when the light switch is in the OFF position. You should disconnect your battery grounding cab;e when you park tyhe car at the end of the day. Tom
