Topic: How do you remove the headlight bezel?

Just acquired my 1939 Deluxe Tudor. I need to get into the headlight bulbs. How do I remove the bezel or bucket? Bottom screw doesn't free up anything. I am many miles from the nearest RG. I was a member of Charlotte NC back in 2000. This is my third flathead and need some tech help. The disease just keeps coming back ! Thanks. Regards, BOB

Remove the bottom screw from the bezel, then lift straight up to remove the bezel from the clip on the top. Hold on to the glass so it does not fall out. Sometimes the glass will stick to the cork gasket, and will have to be pulled off.
The bulb will then be exposed, just twist it CCW to remove it.

bgjgrgdg, do you need to remove the headlight ring? If this is the problem remove the screw first. There are two smaller catches 90degs left and right of the screw holding the ring in place. Lightly pry the ring free and then lift the ring from the bottom as pauls39coupe described. I used a small plastic screwdriver to pry the ring. This all assumes the '39 hightlight rin is the same as my '38.

One minor addition to the above is that you need to push the bulb in before turning it counter-clockwise to remove it.
