Did a search and could not find a definitive answer. Just finished repairing the whole mechanical brake system on my 38 and have it working quite good. Help and advice from FlatheadTed. Car stops well now, but still porpoises down the road with any kind of road deviation. Stock shocks were all rebuilt by previous owner during his full restoration. Question: Is there any way to put tube shocks on this with the mechanical brakes? I am sure it would greatly improve the roadability of this car.

I think there shouldn't be an issue with installing tube shocks on a car with the cable brakes, the routing of the cables should not be very close to where the shocks will be installed. I am planning to reinstall the cable brakes on my 37, but I also plan to use original type shocks at this point.

HI I would disconect the shocks and see if any are not working, or weak , if you can move the arms easily , you can try adjusting them, so they have shock action, or send them out to get rebuilt my 2 cents 37Ragtopman, Maine
