does anybody know if a 55-56 fuel tank will fit into a 53 sedan as they are much more affordable? they appear to be similar in photos. thanks

Whats wrong with the 53 gas tank ? I jusr repaired a 64 JEEP CJ 5 gas tank, with a sealer from EASTWOOD, check it out my 2 cents 37Ragtopman if it has old gas in it, drain it out, flush out with lacquer thinners now use 5/16 steel nuts,maybe 50 or more and rotate the tank, with water and metal prep drain that out, use a magnet to remove all the nuts, dry in the sun, do this for a few days, when it is completely dry, use the sealer and rotate the gas tank till it is coated, all over, use masking tape over the fill and fuel line and sender holes, if you have tiny holes, you can solder the holes closed with a soldering gun, I did this to my 37 back in 1976 and have no problems since then,
