The Guy that sold this truck says it is a 1939 1 1/2 ton Dumptruck . I don't think he's correct because all photo's I've seen and characteristics, grill, hood,. etc. are leaning toward the 1941 Model. Am going to get Bill of Sale but do not want the wrong year model listed on it. Do not have a title but have located the Serial #'s on the frame and on top of the transmission. They match up and would like to get a bond title or something to get licensed. The Serial Number should tell me what model for sure shouldnt it? Are there a serial number list that tells year model and when made? New at these older vehicles...lol I can list the serial # if anyone can tell me the year. Any help would be appreciated The photo below is just for reference but it's the the same style ...it lists it as a 1941 model. The 39 grill is different therefore I think he is wrong about the Model.

The number you have is a sequential serial number starting with *18-1* in 1932. It is an engine number only and tells you nothing about the vehicle itself. I only have a list of serial numbers going back to 40. If your number is between 18-5896295 and 18-6769036 it is a 41. A much lower number would be a 39. Look up Vanpelt Sales for a full description of the numbers.

My number begins with prefix 99T. So its not an 18A . From what I see the 99T . "99" stands for 95 hp V8 ....."T"means Truck, 1 ton or larger. I looked at the serial number stats on that page Ken...Not seeing "99T' tho. Where does it fall into the numbers. I did see "99A" under 1941 Mercury 19A Closet numbers I see to mine. John.....from what i can see. the 99T's were in 1939. 1940 and 1941 does not show model 99T in the Model Identifications. Maybe the 41 front end was changed. Well Hoot I can see nothing in Vanpelt that talks about 99T engines. The 95 horsepower Mercury engines were stamped 99. So my best guess is you have a 1941 95 horsepower engine that is in the sequence with the Mercury engines but has certain features that make it a truck engine. Your pictures indicates it is a 41 truck as well.

post a picture--99T is the 95 hp engine and T is for a truck. I have or have had several of these trucks. cabs from 1940 to 47 are about the same. 39 cabs have windshield wipers on the roof, windshield would open up

42wagon...From what I found...all 1939 year models serial #'s start with the number 9. If you look on Van Pelts in the "Model Identifications" you will see the 99T Model only listed in 1939 section. The 40, 41 ,42 all have same type truck but use different model Numbers and HP. Notice in 1941, 42 the engines were larger HP. Mine referenced has a 8 Cylinders, 95 HP, 134" wheelbase, and a 1 1/2 ton truck. These are the only 1 1/2 ton listed with that size wheelbase besides Dump trucks, which prefix was U instead of the T. So if the model numbers listed are for those years. So my motor , I think is a 1939 , 95HP, and the frame was stamped with same motor # 99T. Now I dont know if the front end has been changed to a 1941 after it was built or did ford just use up a 39 they had sitting around in the year of 41...lol.....Either way it seems I have a 1939 motor setup and frame stamped to match with a 41 body...lol. There is number stamped on the firewall of the Cab....L2791 located about were a brake system would be. Does that tell anything about the cab? . Year Model# Cylinders HP Wheel Base Chassis 1939 99-T 8 95 134" 1½ Ton Truck 1940 09-T 8 95 134" 1½ Ton Truck 1941 11-T 8 90 134" 1½ Ton Truck 19-T 8 100 134" 1½ Ton Truck 1942 21-T 8 90 134" 1½ Ton Truck 29-T 8 100 134" 1½ Ton Truck So by this chart my 99T Frame and Motor was a 1939 Model. But somehow I have a 1941 Front end and/or Cab. If the front ends will interchange on all the cabs...maybe someone has put it on it down thru its life...lol give it a face lift, sort a speak.
