I have a stock 34 Ford Woody and it came with no rear shocks. I have correct shocks that go inside the frame rails. They do not clear the gas tank. It's either the car has the wrong tank or dropping the tank is normal to replace the shocks. Can someone give me some advice before I rip it all apart? Thanks, Dave

Your car must be very early 34 to have inside the frame mounting rear shocks. The very early 34 shock is a carry over from 33 it is shorter than the slightly larger 34 shock that was used for most of the model year.

40 Coupe, With respect, all '34s had inside-mounted rear shock absorbers as did all '35s and '36s except very late versions of the latter where the rear shocks were mounted on the bottom of the frame rails. Perhaps you are thinking of the outside-mounted front shocks. Also, '33-'34 inside-mounted shocks have different fluid fill plug locations, but other than that, they are the same size. As an alternative to a possible size issue with the gas tank, perhaps you are attempting to use '35-'36 rear shocks, which are definitely larger than '34 rear shocks, but are very similar in appearance. 3w2: You are correct, All the 33 and 34 rear passenger car and commercial shocks are inside the frame mounted .
