  The key is getting near impossible to turn counter clockwise and I would like to know the steps to remove the cylinder from the steering column and replacing it with a repro such as sold by Little Dearborn or another that would be recommended. Thanks alot for your help...

  You will have to remove the Ignition Lock Retainer Pin Part #: 68-3729
I did this by drilling a small hole and threading it so I could use a slide hammer to pull it out. once that is removed it should slide right out.

  Did you try lubricating the lock cylinder and the steering lock with graphite lock lube? Also your key may be worn enough so that it doesn't push the tumblers back far enough.
