Any recommendations for 6 volt battery maintainer also called battery tender. My ‘50 Ford 4door is driven infrequently, maybe every two weeks.

I have been using a Deltran p/n 022-0196-DL for about 5 years and it has worked well The battery (5 years old also) appears to be as good as new.

These are great gadgets. I have two 12 volt ones for my RV, which is coming up on 27 years old. Since I've been using the tenders (maybe eight or ten years), the life of the four batteries has been remarkedly better.

So---is there anybody out there who likes Battery Tender?

Got no problems with any of the other brands used by my fellow Club members.

Just curious if Battery Tender is not worth it.

I've used Battery Tender brand maintainers on my 1939 coupe and Model A. They seem to last longer than some of the others, one is at least 12 years old. The 39 has had an Optima battery since 2008, still going strong. I bought a replacement Optima For the 39 two years ago and ended up putting it in the Model A.

Better keep an eye on the battery tenders; I had a schumaker on our 38 conv., with a $250.00 Ford script battery, didn't check it for a while, went into garage could smell something hot, the charger hadn't shut off, boiled the battery dry, refilled it with acidn never would start the car; schumaker said to send it back with $10.00, they would fix it, I junked it, out $250.00

I personally have (4) "Battery Tenders." (1) 12 volt for my '57 Corvette, (1) 6 volt for my '40 ford, (1) 6 volt for my '50 ford, and 1 (12) volt for my Caddy XLR. I lwave them on always, and they never fail me. I did have one fail after about 2-3 years, and I called them . They said to send it back for a credit towards a new one!

I did try another brand once(Schumacher) and over time more than one failed! (JUNK!)

Battery Tenders in my opinion, are the very best!9 Call them in Deland Florida, or buy them in your local!

Thanks, guys, for the prompt feedback! I appreciate all your comments very much.

I'm researching the various brands before purchasing one in the next few months. I may put it off a little longer and ask Santa to bring me one.

Hope you all have a nice weekend.

I use the Deltran Battery tenders on the 3 cars that do not get a daily run. One battery is 14 years old and still test good, another is an Optima that is 6 years old and still tests good and the 3rd one is also an Optima that failed this year. It was 6 years old.

I've got a NOCO Genius G750 6/12Volt. Recommended to me by the guys on the FoordBarn Model A site.

I use the "Battery Tenders" for my 34 Fords, my 35 Buick and my 66 VW. Love them, now putting one on my 35 Ford Pickup.
Had to refurbish the battery with Epsom Salts, Tomorrow I'll test drive it with refurbished battery after 3 days on the batttery tender. I permanently wire them in and just plug them in when parked. Never had a problem.
I had a friend with one that failed and the manufacturer replaced it.

Got the NOCO Genius 1. Changed up a 12 volt batt’y in about a day and blinking charge indicator light went from blinking red to steady green indicating batt’y fully charged and NOCO switched to maintain mode. For 6 volt batty blinking red persists after several days. Batty hygrometer shows full charge but I never get the green light. Comments? Recommendations?
