but low beams and taillight (only one taillight) don't.

While I don't drive it at night, the lack of choice bothers me.

Could be a problem with the light switch at the bottom of the steering box. First have you checked to see if you have power to the light bulbs? bulbs could be burned out. Could be bad light bulb sockets. Be aware the original Ford schematic for the wiring at the light switch is incorrectly shown in the Ford diagrams. Is the wiring old and original or modified ??

  Good morning...

When the light switch is to the right (clockwise), both headlamps work.

When the switch is to the left (counter clockwise) in either position, only the left headlamp works.

The taillight does not work.

The light switch at the bottom of the steering box? If there is a problem there, would the headlamps work at all...and is the taillight also controlled there?

Thanks.

Thank you.

The bulb(s) may be bad. R & L on the sw equate to Hi and Lo beam.

As mentioned above FIRST Check the light bulbs to see if they are burned out! Including the parking lights which includes the tail light. If they are good check the voltage to the light bulbs.
It appears you don't have much experience with electrical and you don't have the schematic diagram.
Go to VanPelt sales and download the diagram for your car.
Do you have a voltmeter or an ohmmeter? Do you know how to use them?
If your experience is very limited, you may want to seek assistance.
Yes the original Ford electrical light switch is at the bottom of the steering box. The mechanical lever that controls the position of the electrical light switch is in the center of the steering wheel.
