Topic: 36 Ford Sedan Door Latch Spring

The right-hand latch mechanism spring broke on my 36 Tudor. I'm pretty sure I have the "early 36" version, so I ordered a couple of replacement springs - YELLOW.
My question is how do you get these on? I think I have it oriented correctly. I looks like the "arm"needs to be rotated down, and the bend on the end makes contact with the latch to keep it pushed out.
I can't seem to be able to spin the spring around enough to get it in place. Is there some trick?
Help? Thanks!

On mine, I had to get the spring tab in place before dropping it into the slot. I used a vice grip on about a third of the flat tab in the center of the spring. Then installed the spring on the latch mechanism and twisted the vice grip to get the flat spot started between the two tabs and then hammered the spring down the rest of the way. I think it took more than one try.

  HI
I do not know if this would work
but I would cut a slot in a old bolt with a hacksaw the thickness of the spring,
would install the long part of the spring, and then twist the inside of the spring till it lines up then tap into place,
it might be worth a try,
hope this helps, 37Ragtopman
