Topic: Single Pole Temperature Sensor

I took a single pole temp sensor and ran a ground wire to it, and a wire connected to the screw on the top of it, to the wire to the gauge. (Which I had discoonnected from the sensor in the cylinder head.) I then ran the car to let the coolant in the top of the radiator get to 179-180 degrees. Then I immersed the sensor in that coolant in the top of the radiator. The gauge then read about 1/16" past N. I then removed the sensor in the cylinder head ,and installed that one I had just tested, in the head- to my surprise it read 3/4 on the gauge? I'm thinking that it is picking up the temp from the cylinder head that it is installed in?? Your thoughts would be appreciated!

The single pole sensor is connected by wire to one of the terminals on the sensor with two connections. The remain terminal is connected to the wire to the temperature gauge. The threads on the heads and sensors are pipe threads, and no sealer is needed. If silicone tape or other sealer is applied. the reading will be affected.
