Topic: Ignition switch

My ignition switch is marked coil, amps, and acc. I removed, cleaned and tightened connections. Afterwards my 46 coupe starts as easily, but went from smooth to ragged idle and wanting to stall. Does the yellow/black input wire have to go to a particular post? I connected it and headlights wire to "coil." Used remaining two posts for turn signals, fuel pump, and red/black which I assume is for instruments.

There are three posts on the ignition switch. The yellow and black wire should go to the terminal marked "amps". The red and black wire should go to the terminal marked "coil". All others should go to the terminal marked "acc".Normally the lighting wires bypass the ignition switch so the lights can always be turned on. It would probably be a good idea to run the fuel pump to the "acc" terminal. That way it cannot be turned on unless the ignition switch is on.

The ignition switch is not really designed to have the full electrical load run through it.
