I recently saw what appear to be a nice matched set of 59ab heads for sale in a local Ford flathead parts group not too far away from me. I have a set of heads that are perfectly serviceable but these appear much nicer, with nearly no corrosion. BUT one of the heads has two rectangular notches cast into the lower edge of the head near the ends which intrude slightly into the gasket surface. Both heads have an identical "59AB" cast into them but I wondered if the one with the notches might be for a different application perhaps? Does anyone know what these notches are for? Any help is hugely appreciated, I don't want to buy them and find out there's an issue with using it.
