It is my belief (memory) that the a flat head V8's fuel pressure(with a 4 barrel Holley carburetor) should be regulated to 2+1/2-3 pounds, and never over 3 pounds. Is my memory correct ? Regards, Steve Lee This message was edited by sarahcecelia on 4-11-21 @ 7:42 AM

Memory is correct for the stock 2 barrel carb, but not for the 4 barrel.

What range fuel pressure would a 4 barrel Holly 390CFM carburetor need on a V8?? Regards, Steve Lee

It only "needs" 2-1/2 to 3 psi to function. Just needs enough pressure to move fuel to the carb as fast as the fuel is being used by the engine. Just needs to keep the fuel bowls full. However, that is a hot rod carburetor, could handle more pressure. I think could handle up to about 6-7 psi, maybe more. I have that Holley 390 CFM carburetor on my flat rod, and have the fuel regulator set for 4 psi. Delivers enough fuel for fast acceleration and expressway speeds. No need to have a higher pressure. If I was doing quarter mile racing I might want to raise the fuel pressure.
