Topic: Gauge of wire between the Generator and the Volt..

What should the gauge of the wire be between the generator and the voltage regulator, and the voltage regulator and the starter solenoid?

I have a 1940 Ford Deluxe, and want to add an Ammeter. I noticed from the 1939 Standard wiring diagram, where the Ammeter loop was, so I know where to add the loop, but want to make sure I have wire of a large enough gauge.

I am keeping the stock voltmeter, I just want the ammeter as well (my father had wanted to install one for me years ago, but became sick before he could accomplish it-so I want to do it.

Thank you all in advance.

In the Ford V8 Service Bulletins Book 1941-1948 Complete, the 1945-1947 Lincoln wiring diagram lists the amp ratings. The wires from the generator to voltage regulator and starter relay through the ammeter to the ignition switch are listed as 10 gauge which is also the highest wiring amp rating given.
