Topic: 1936 distributor compatabily

I have a 36 block with later year cast iron heads. The distributor that came with the it (but not on it) is a 40B. This ,I think, was used with aluminum heads. Are the two compatable? Thanks Bruce

There is no difference in the distributors between iron and aluminum heads. The correct distributor for your '36 should be marked 40-12127 if it uses the 3 bolt coil, 68-12127 is it has the 2 bolt coil. The point sets for both are 18-12107.
