In installing a new rear brake cable on my 46 ,what is involved in attaching the cable at the rear wheels?

Seems I recall you have to do some disassembly at the wheel.

Thank you.

you have to remove the rear hubs, which is a project in itself, then you connect the cable to the actuators

If your rear drums are on the outside of the hub, you may just need to remove the drum to get access to connect the cables. The cable and spring enters the tube that is attached to the backing plate. The cable end hooks into the brake actuating arm, the spring is pushed (compressed) up against the actuating arm, enough to install a retaining clip over the cable between the end of the spring and the tube. The clip prevents the spring from goin back out the tube. There should also be a rubber "sleeve" that fits over the outside end of the tube, to prevent/dirt/water from getting into the brakes. If your drums don't come off the hub, then as Alan noted, that is a bigger job that requires a hub puller and big torque wrench.

For got to note that the P/N for the retaining clip is; 91A-2113. carpenter has them for $2.00, two required. The other piece that sometimes gets missed is P/N 11A-2091, brake cable grommet. It's a rubber piece that goes over the clevis, to stop the cable from hitting the floor pan when driving over rough roads.

Silverchief. Did you get your e-cables installed?

No -waiting for warmer weather. I can buy a new cable but am going to pass if it involves a wheel puller, etc.
