Topic: 34 ford coupe roof repair (part 2)

I started a new discussion about this roof repair. There are metal channels, they are upside down, filled with some fibrous material, that the top material and metal pieces are nailed to. These channels are located in the edge around the top of the body opening. I wonder if they are spot welded to the body. I removed 2 screws and 2 small nut and bolts on each channel, but the channel does not move. I did this because I thought I might be able insert wood pieces in the channels. The other thing I might try (if I don't hear from someone who has done this) is to use daps plastic wood on the old fibrous material, fill in holes and cracks, and see if that hold the nails and screws. Anybody been thru this? If so, I would sure like to talk to you on the phone. Any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks, John Fisher
