Topic: 40 ford coupe steering box

  good day gents finaly got my 40 coupe only took 60 years but who is counting.... now for some advice coupe has 350 chevy engine in it has a vega steering box manual.....decided a few weeks ago to convert to power steering mistake there. box came new pitman arm and joint. no issues there, but tried to mount the resovior pump and found that the bottom where the mount is supposed to go is where the engine is bolted to the chassie wont fit no room has anyone had this problem? custom mount etc? next the orginal vega box has play no more adjustment dont no how long its been in. I mite have to go manual is the 525 i think thats it, is this a better box to use? and the pitman arm got to excited jumped the gun again. thanks any advice is appreciated larry

  I had a similar problem when mounting the power steering pump on my 33 Chevy Street Rod. I mounted a modern Type II pump in the LH cylinder head using holes that are located there from the factory. I bought the mounting plate from Speedway Motors, and it fits good. Bill Large
