Topic: 36 Ford Distributor

On a weekly cruise my 36 sputtered and stalled. It refired. Went 5 more miles and died.
I limped it home jerking and bucking all the way.
I thought maybe bad gas. I thought maybe the gauge wasn’t accurate and filled the tank.

I replaced the coil and all new plugs.

I had a leaky water pump that dropped on distributor. I’ve removed pumps and pulled distributor.

I bought an igniter. Even as it was the recommended kit for my car it didn’t fit(I have a Mallory dual point).
We machined the old plate to take the igniter.

Now; the original plate is metal and attracts a magnet. The replacement plate(not used) is aluminum.

Will it matter using the original plate. Will it interfere with the igniter?

To be safe, ask the supplier that sold you the parts.
